Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch a direct five-times weekly Singapore-Munich-Manchester service on 28 March, 2010.

Using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, the Munich route will be SIA's second destination in Germany after its twice-daily service to Frankfurt.

Huang Cheng Eng, SIA executive vice president marketing and the regions, said the flight would help the airline meet demand for Munich, "which also provides a gateway into Austria and the surrounding region".

Munich will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its Oktoberfest folk festival in 2010.
