Award-winning British luxury spa brand ESPA will open its Asian flagship and Singapore’s largest spa on 6 July at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).
Spread across 10,000 square metres of manicured landscaped gardens, pools and ponds next to Equarius Hotel, the spa has 24 treatment rooms; two private spa suites overlooking a reflection pool; two beach villas offering captivating sea views; a nail studio with seven manicure and six pedicure stations plus back massage chairs; a gym; an octagonal studio for yoga, Pilates and meditation; and a spa café called Tangerine which serves Modern European fare based on the “conscious dining” concept using ingredients that are sourced from organic or bio-dynamic farms.
Designed and conceptualised by award-winning American architectural firm Michael Graves & Associates, the spa also houses Singapore’s first authentic hammam, a traditional Turkish bath with a dome-shaped ceiling, fitted with Italian marble walls and beds, where the traditional hammam ritual of deep-cleansing full body scrub using a traditional Kese mitt and black olive soap is performed.
Other key features of the spa include onsen-style pools, a sleep zone complete with 18 sleep pods, a rock sauna, and crystal steam rooms decked with chocolate and gold mosaics as well as amethyst crystals which are believed to exude balancing energies for meditation.
ESPA's exquisite crystal steam room is one of its many signature heat experiences that guests can enjoy
“With ESPA at RWS, we created an oasis among a bustling and lively island environment,” said Laura Vallati, General Manager, ESPA at RWS. “We carved out the spa journey… by focusing on ‘bringing the outdoors in’ through landscaped outdoor journeys and views of lush tropical forestry, combined with beautifully designed private and social spaces inside the spa,” she added.
Founded in 1993 by Susan Harmsworth, ESPA is known for training its spa teams to the very highest standards. In fact, the “E” in ESPA represents “education”. ESPA therapists have to undergo an intensive, 10-week post-graduate training programme so as to attest to the highest standard in terms of skill and quality, and be equipped with extensive knowledge of the spa’s treatments and products.
ESPA has won awards for Best In-Spa Education Programme and Best Spa Company over the years.
In Asia, ESPA can be found at The Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai, Sanya, Hong Kong and Tokyo; The Peninsula in Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shanghai; and The Leela Palaces in Udaipur and New Delhi.
Treatment prices for ESPA at RWS start from $100++ for a 25-minute back, neck and shoulder massage to $200++ for a personalised one-hour massage, and from $125++ for a 30-minute Revitalising Hammam Cleanse to $400++ for a two-hour Ultimate Hammam Ritual which comprises a traditional hammam treatment and a one-hour personalised massage.
