For a start, check out the hawker food centres for some of the very best of our local cuisine. The crux of enjoying the best at a hawker food centre is that if you see a queue, printed accolades or newspaper articles at the stall, the food is usually worth trying or waiting for.
If you're worried about getting sick, look for the hygiene licence posted at the stall. A rating of “A” or “B” should be safe. Popular food centres include Lau Pat Sat, Newton Circus, Glutton's Bay, Zion Riverside, Maxwell Food Centre and those in Geylang area.
